Live Gig Turbinenhalle - Oberhausen

Whitesnake and The Answer

Pukkelpop Festival 2011 - 18.08.2011 - Hasselt, Belgien(Nov/24/2011) Britsh hard rockers WHITESNAKE are back with their recent record "Forevermore". To promote this they are back in Germany for two shows. One of this small concert-string is in Oberhausen. As support David Coverdale took Ireland's THE ANSWER, who have already opened shows for METALLICA and AC/DC.

THE ANSWER have the pleasure to open up for the white snake in front of a already filled Turbinenhalle. Their 70's driven rock is exactly what people want to hear, for most of the crowd has been teenagers or even older during that time. The four guys are doing a good job, but it's no dangerous rock'n'roll show if you're just waving your hands or jumping always on the same spot of the stage. But people seem to enjoy the band's 45 minute set and it's obvious that THE ANSWER have won some new fans.

Unterwegs in - © sumnersgraphicsinc - Fotolia.comAfter half an hour of break WHITESNAKE are entering the stage. They are openig their set with a medley of 'Bad Boys' and 'Still Of The Night', both taken from their most succesful record, "1987". The following tunes are also classics of the band's backcatalogue. Like the power-ballad 'The Deeper The Love' or the stamping 'Give Me All Your Love'. But WHITESNAKE also deliver some of their new tracks taken off their most recent work "Forevermore" like it's opener 'Steal Your Heart Away' and it's title track.
But it seems like singer David Coverdale is using playback during some songs. Because you can still hear him sing even if the microphone is far away from his mouth. But the singer is still in a good shape and his performance is really solid. But what's really annoying are the solo-sessions of the guitar players and the drummer. Way too long and way too boring solos. It seems like most people think that over five minute long solos are quite boring.
But when Coverdale is on stage and the band is playing these six guys are delivering a real good setlist and a real good show that features all the big hits, mostly taken from their 80's records.
After the DEEP PURPLE song 'Burn' and the outro 'We Wish You Well' WHITESNAKE are saying goodbye after almost two hours of Rock'n'Roll.
Despite the playback suspected it was a pretty successful show of the band.
